Confront Neoliberalism in Washington, DC: October 18-21, 2007

Since the summer, a broad coalition of organizations and global justice activists from Washington, DC and around the country have been working to plan four days of actions and events, during the annual meetings of the International Monetary Fund and World Bank, to confront institutions that put profit over people everywhere. This site attempts to serve as a clearinghouse for information about the October mobilization.

So, it's been over 5 months since the action. The October Coalition stopped meeting shortly after the actions, and this page is here for historical purposes only, and eventually will be archived in a more permanent format. As such there is no entity that can update this page anymore, or otherwise speak for those who were involved.

Cheers to those who helped make the weekend's events what they were, jeers to those who kept it from being more.

Friday, 5:15pm: An eyewitness reports from Georgetown that there are emergency "no parking" signs and some of the stores are boarding up their windows. Police have set up a stronghold in an enclave between 33rd and Wisconsin on M, including a few dozen bicycles and motorcycles.

Georgetown

Updated Information!

We are calling for disruptive actions throughout Georgetown, respecting a diversity of tactics, for October 19th, starting at 9pm.

We will have an unpermitted march through Georgetown. We will assemble at Washington Circle - near the Foggy Bottom Metro (the closest metro to Georgetown) and promptly depart for Georgetown at 9pm sharp.

The action working group of the coalition has put together various information about Georgetown, including a map of the area, a photo gallery, and points of interest directly connected to the IMF and World Bank.
